In 1993 a bay Half Arabian colt was born at Beahr Ridge Training Stables in Waterloo. He was aptly named "Pure Khountry". His dad was Rhosabee (a Khemosabi son) and his mom was Cinammon Toasty, a Pinto mare making Khountry a 3/4 Arabian. |

Khountry spent his first 1 year at Beahr Ridge then was purchased by the Busch family for their daughter, Stephanie's, birthday on Oct 1st, 1994. A local trainer took Khountry in when he was older and broke him to ride in 30 days. Stephanie and Khountry went onto show at Class A shows, Fun Shows, Quarter Horse Shows -- you name it, they were there and they were winning! In 1998, Stephie was named the AHSI Junior Queen, riding Khountry. They went onto compete at the Iowa State Fair Cowgirl Contest in Des Moines and Khountry and Stephie were named RUNNER UP Junior Iowa Cowgirl Queen. Later again in 2000, Stephie was named the Silver Spur Saddle Club's Junior Queen riding Khountry. They went back to the Iowa State Cowgirl Contest in 2000 and WON the competition -- Stephanie was the official Iowa State Cowgirl Junior Queen riding Khountry -- a Half Arabian. If you all have been to the Cowgirl Contest you will understand how impressive that is because Arabians are in the minority. There have only been a handful of competitors that have made the finals riding Arabian or Half Arabian horses. That whole contest is dominated by Quarter Horses and Paint Horses. In 2001, Stephie was AGAIN named Queen but this time she had now entered the "Senior" division. Khountry and Stephie went back to the Cowgirl contest and made their cut but they had a terrible accident during the Queen Salute causing Khountry to slip and both he and Stephie went down in the ring hurting Stephie's knee really bad. Despite Stephie's knee injury, she and Khountry continued to rack up numerous Championships and Awards over the years. Khountry has won several western pleasure championships, costume classes, barrel, pole, and stake races (he's fast!) .... he's carried many 6 & under riders in lead line, he spins and slides like a reining horse, he can pray and rear on command (while you're sitting on him :o) ..... and he loves to drink Mountain Dew and eat peppermints at horse shows! |

We borrowed Khountry from Stephie the summer of 2006 (Khountry is now 13 years old) We needed a horse for Dani to ride in some parades and in some fun shows we were going to. So Khountry spent the summer with us. |

Khountry eventually went back home to live with Stephie again after show season and all the parades were over. Then ... we got a call in the winter ... we were getting back a 2 year old colt that we had sent out to be sold. We called Stephie up and offered a trade -- Khountry for the colt. She took it and Khountry came to live with us PERMANENTLY! |

| Jenny in her first Walk Trot Class -- It was a BIG Class -- 19 entries. She's riding Khountry (the 4th horse in with his head down). She had only ridden Khountry 4 times before the show. She's from North Carolina and was here visiting and wanted to show in the show so we put her on Khountry. |

We were NOT going to have her enter a canter class but the girls thought she could do it so she entered Maiden Rider ..... and they WON! We left the snaffle bit and martingale on him because that's how she took lessons on him and she felt more comfortable that way. |
